Day 20: Osawatomie to Kansas City. 55 miles. Last day of riding.
This is the Miami County courthouse in Paola.
I'd heard that Kansas has some crappy roads, but I didn't
experience any until today. But these were seriously crappy.
The bike paths were crappy too. Nice location. Crappy path.
Once I could see downtown there was a bike lane (or at least a
picture of a guy riding a bike) on the road all the way in.
A small park dedicated to Buck O'Neal and the Kansas City
Monarchs. Buck is a really big name in Kansas City. He died in
2006.
Finishing up at the most famous place in Kansas City--the corner
of 18th & Vine. The ride ended up being just over 1200
miles.
Then out to dinner at Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que at the
original gas station location. Had the pulled pork sandwich.
Yummy.
Then over to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art to see the giant
shuttlecocks.
And the fairly large Buddha they keep in one of the stairwells.
