Day 15: Eureka Springs to Branson. 55 miles. I hoped I would
stay up on the ridge all day, but alas, there was plenty
of Ozark left.
Most of the morning I was in northern Arkansas farm country.
Lots of cows.
But then I crossed into Missouri.
It's like they do this just to annoy me. These guys also like to
have the rumble strip start and stop for no apparent reason.
And sometimes they add a little shoulder for a 100 yards or so.
Then have it disappear and reappear at random.
The road dropped down to cross one of those lakes--which meant I
had to climb back out of there on a road with no shoulder,
stupid
rumble strips, and plenty of high-speed traffic.
And then they throw in one of these! But not on the narrow road.
No. This is on the big highway
with the 12-foot shoulder. It's easy to share the road when you
don't have to actually do anything to share it.
Seething, I rolled into Branson. And had to climb a few more
hills on the crappy roads full of traffic.
All the drivers were courteous though.
And I saw a boat.
And I was almost hit by a boat!
Oh wait. That was the Titanic Museum. I expect more for
$28--though there are some actual Titanic artifacts
from the actual wreck. I hear the other museum is in Pigeon
Forge. Not surprising, I guess.
Just a normal day in Branson.
I figured I had to see a show, so I went to Barry Williams'
(a.k.a. Greg Brady's) 70's music show. There were maybe a
hundred
people in the huge theater. The band was fantastic. Greg Brady
is not a great singer, but he has other people helping him.
(Greg is the one in the middle).
