Day 5: Talullah, LA to Eudroa, AR. 53 miles. We started the day
by touring the Vicksburg battlefield. Driving around the
battlefield
in air-conditioned comfort, trying to figure out how to use the
Battlefield App. Eventually we gave and used the dial-in
version--like old people.
The ironclad gunboat USS Cairo was the coolest thing. At least
the part of the museum that was air conditioned was cool.
The boat was kind of neat. It was sunk in the Yazoo River in
1862 and pulled out of the mud over 100 years later. You can
walk around inside.
Then we drove back to Talullah and I started riding at about
11:30. The next few days are a bit shorter. The problem is
that the scenery is pretty dull and my iPod is dead. So all I
have are my thoughts. Ugh.
It wasn't totally dull. There were several seconds of interest.
Like when I was photographing the water tower in Transylvania.
And when I was riding along Lake Providence.
And when I saw those trees with the spiky roots sticking up
above the water.
And when I finally got to Arkansas.
The scenery in Arkansas is the same.
