Day 13: Fayetteville to Bentonville. 29 miles. A rolling rest
day, but very eventful. Almost completely on bike paths.
Oddly, no matter how advanced the engineering, bike paths
are not always safe.
A couple miles in I met up with Oscar. He was out for his daily
ride. (And, yes, I was wearing my Oscar jersey as well.) We rode
together until
Springdale. He told me all about the history of the trail that
connects Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, and Bentonville. And
he told me that
I had to see the Crystal Bridges Museum. Oscar is planning a
ride down the Great Divide Trail for next year on mountain
bikes. That will be awesome.
Oh. This is one of those little libraries you see around. Oscar
said it's been there two weeks and the books haven't changed.
Oscar and I split at the Shiloh Ozark Museum. I went in and
looked at all the exhibits of Ozarkian history and life.
And then I looked at the barn.
Back on the trail. I stopped for lunch at this pond.
And I saw another library. Scary.
Eventually I got to my hotel. Then I made modern history by
taking my first Uber ride to the Crystal Bridges Museum.
The dude had a dream catcher hanging from his rear-view mirror.
A hippie.
Crystal Bridges is pretty impressive. Nice art museum. Lots of
art.
My favorite was this rectangle of green candies. You were
invited to take one and eat it. So I did.
This is what I looked at while I waited for my second ever Uber
ride. It's a tree...or something.
