Day 35

Rest day: San Diego, CA
So, why declare today to be a "rest day" when we're done riding? If
it's a rest day, then the ride is still "officially" underway and I can
eat whatever I want. If the ride were to end, I would have to go back
on my diet. This is what we call an "administrative solution" to create
a "loophole." Of course, I'm only "cheating" myself.
We went to the zoo. Since it is Saturday and the Fourth of July
weekend, the place was pretty crowded. Actually, it was a zoo.
This is a very large turtle. He looks grumpy.
The rhino seemed more friendly.
Next, Linda and I drove up to the Cabrillo National Monument at Point
Loma. Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo was a Spanish explorer from back in the
day. Very little is known about him, but he has his own national park.

We were pretty tired after all that, so we ate dinner and went to
sleep. Tomorrow we fly home.
