We rolled out of the campground smelling fine. We stopped at Gorda for
some snacks and to call Linda. Gorda is about twice the size of
Lucia--the single building also has a gas station. Linda told us that
we would be in the Ramada that night. Woo-hoo!
There were a couple more big climbs and then we rolled into Ragged
Point, which was about twice the size of Gorda. After that we were done
with the big climbs and we started to benefit from a tailwind.
One last stunning view.
There was a busy little state park near San Simeon that was lousy with
elephant seals. There was a lot of barking and growling and sumo
wrestling going on out there. But mostly there was laying in the sun.
There were also about 25 very
friendly and curious squirrels.
Elephant seals. I'm told these are juvies.
We rode up to the Hearst Castle's visitor center, but we weren't about
to spend two hours and $20 to see the actual house, so we used the
restroom and moved on.
Lunch was in Cambria, then there was a snack in Cayucos and a
meandering ride through Morro Bay. Then there was a nice wind assisted
climb over a desert-ranch-grassland kind of place.
Riding on the ranch.
The first thing we did when we got to SLO was get a fruit smoothie at a
convenient juice bar. It was next to the Starbucks but I was drawn away
from the bean and to the mango.
