Day 2: Covington, LA to McComb, MS. 80 miles. Nothing to see
today. This is the old train station in Ponchatoula.
The cage on the right is supposed to contain a big alligator named
Old Hardhide. If he was there, I couldn't see him.
Most of the roads in Louisiana had wide shoulders. But sometimes
they were not nice. Painfully not nice.
Of all the states I've cycled in, I've got to say Mississippi has
the worst roads.
Birthplace of America's Music? Is Elvis America's Music? I'm
confused.
The shoulder disappeared when I crossed into Mississippi. But they
added a stupid rumble strip.
Later, the rumble strip disappeared. But that was only because the
road was so rough you didn't need
a rumble strip to wake drowsy motorists. At least there wasn't
much traffic.
Sporting decay. A disused speedway somewhere in Mississippi. The
most interesting thing I saw all day.
