Day 15 turned about to be about as easy as a 60 mile ride through the desert can be thanks to a raging tailwind. And there must be an
Air Force base around here somewhere because there were fighter jets flying around all day. Not this one. This one is in a park in Mountain Home.

I was on Old Route 30 pretty much all day. Unless I was on current Route 30. I think this is the old one.

But it was not all desert today. There was agriculture as well. Those are some seriously huge hay bales. That's a tractor trailer on the right.

After a while I dropped down into the valley of the Snake River. I ended up going through that gap in the distance.

You may remember the Snake River from such places as Clarkston, WA. Now it's back.

There was very little traffic on old Route 30. And most of them were motorcycles. All the cars and trucks were on the interstate.

Eventually I had to climb back out of the valley. It was not a problem because of the raging tailwind.

I raced this guy for a while, but he blew off the road and I cruised past.

I stopped for lunch at a diner in a town called Bliss. It was next to a Sinclair station.

Finally I turned south and dropped down into the Hagerman Valley. The famous Hagerman Fossil Beds are in the bluff on the right.

Of course, who can visit Hagerman without stopping at the famous Hagerman Sheep Monument?

It commemorates the early Basque sheep herders of the area who, along with their trusty horse, dog, and bear, kept the Hagerman sheep in line.

The famous Hagerman Horse--the state fossil of Idaho--on display at the Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument visitor center.

The Hagerman Valley Historical Society Museum. They used to have a real Hagerman Horse fossil, but their fossil is now
on display at the Smithsonian, so they have a fake fossil. They also have a lot of the bric-a-brac that fills little museums all over the US.
I need to stop at more of these.
