Day 5. Glastonbury to Cirencester. 64 miles. This was supposed to be an easy day. It turned out otherwise.
One thing we had to accomplish today was laundry. There was a bit if a crisis as indicated by this attempt at imitating a dryer.

The weather was fantastic for the first time on the trip. Here Mr. Balint gets ready to embark on the peaceful streets of Glastonbury.

There was an immediate climb out of town. And then some nice views of the Tor.

And then there was another, more brutal climb. It might be the longest of the trip yet.
This was somewhat vexing to us, as we've been told that it gets easier as you go north. Not so today.
BTW. It took some doing to squeeze past that livestock hauler. And you can still see the Tor!

We've taken a liking to this sports drink: Lucozade. Which we assume is made in Latvia from nuclear waste and sugar.
It seems to be the only sports drink on the market.

The coolest part of the day was riding through the twin tunnels outside of Bath. Softly lit with piped in violin music and lava lamps (or something).
Pretty classy. The longest tunnel was over a mile long.

Some people come to Bath for the waters. We came for the Laundinarium. Crisis averted.

We had an early start, so we figured we could take our time. But we ended up being on the road for almost 12 hours. And there were canals.

Outside of Bath there was a climb so absurd, even Mr. Balint had to walk. My Garmin showed the maximum grade at 20%.
Then we spent a lot of time on some rough paths. Which resulted in other product endorsements.

Somerset, Wiltshire, and Gloucestershire today. They all took a piece out of us.

Eventually we rolled into Cirencester. We ate at the hotel. Tomorrow we have a very short day. Just 16 miles to Cheltenham and a well-deserved rest.
